ENDED study
The CARGENCORS study (Cardiovascular Genetic Risk Score for Risk Stratification of SARS-COV-2 Positive Patients) aims to help us better understand how our genes influence our ability to recover from COVID-19.
Coronaviruses affect the cardiovascular system and several studies point to higher mortality levels in COVID-19 patients with previous cardiovascular risk factors.
To carry out this study, we need volunteers who have had an asymptomatic, mild or moderate form of COVID-19.
The study will improve our knowledge of how to identify people at high risk of major complications (need for assisted ventilation and even death) related to COVID-19, by genetically characterising cardiovascular risk; and will involve the analysis of blood samples and clinical information from 3,000 patients.
A 15-minute interview about the state of your health, in which we will explain the goals of the project and answer any questions you may have.
A blood sample will be taken to obtain DNA for genetic tests, which will be carried out on the same day as the interview. This blood test involves minimal risk; you will notice only slight discomfort from the needle prick for the blood test, for which sterile, single-use material is used.
The data collected will be stored and protected at the Hospital del Mar Medical Research Institute (IMIM) in Barcelona and the Girona Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBGI), with security and confidentiality guaranteed at all times.
