Roberto Elosua wins the COMB Award for Professional Excellence

The prize-giving ceremony for the Awards for Professional Excellence 2010, organised by the Barcelona College of Doctors (COMB), took place on the 29th November in the Teatro Romea. Roberto Elosua, coordinator of the IMIM Cardiovascular Genetics and Epidemiology Research Group, received an award at this year’s ceremony along with other professionals from MAR Health Park.

This is the seventh year of these awards, which are presented annually to honour doctors with exemplary behaviour in the area of healthcare, medical education, research or in the field of bioethics.

The award winners from MAR Health Park at this year’s ceremony were:

• Jordi Carbonell, head of the Rheumatology Service of the Hospital del Mar.
• Antoni Mª Cervera, director of the Geriatrics Institute of the MAR Health Park.
• Roberto Elosua, coordinator of the IMIM Cardiovascular Genetics and Epidemiology Research Group.
• Carlos Mestre, head of Section of the Trauma Service of MAR Health Park.

The ceremony coincided with the 25th anniversary of the death of Dr. Jordi Gol i Gurina and with the tribute to the first democratic meeting of the Barcelona College of Doctors. The closing address was made by the Catalan Health Minister, Marina Geli, with the awards being presented by Dr. Jaume Padrós, Senior Vice President of the COMB.
