Dr. Marta Torrens and Dr. Ramon Pujol, new professors at the Pompeu Fabra University

Dr. Torrens is a Professor of Psychiatry, while Dr. Pujol is a Professor of Dermatology. Both at the Department of Medicine and Health Sciences of UPF.

Dr. Marta Torrens, emeritus director of Addiction at Hospital del Mar, has been appointed Professor of Psychiatry at the Department of Medicine and Health Sciences of Pompeu Fabra University since April 16, after successfully passing the opposition process. Dr. Torrens also serves as the coordinator of the Addiction Research Group at the center's Research Institute.

Dr. Ramon M. Pujol, head of the Dermatology Service at the hospital and coordinator of the Research Group on Inflammatory and Neoplastic Dermatologic Diseases at the Hospital del Mar Research Institute, won the competition for the position of Professor of Dermatology at UPF on April 17.

Dr. Marta Torrens

She holds a Doctorate in Medicine and is a specialist in Psychiatry, serving as the coordinator of the Research Network in Primary Care for Addictions (RIAPAD) at the Carlos III Institute. She is an elected member of the scientific committee of the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA) and the joint scientific network of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and the World Health Organization (UNODC and WHO), as well as a member of the executive committee of the World Association of Dual Pathology.

She has received various international and national awards, including the Nyswander-Dole Award from the American Association for Opiate Dependence Treatment, the Chimera Award from the European Association for Opiate Dependence Treatment, and the Cruz Blanca from the Ministry of Health for her contribution to the National Drug Plan, as well as the Professional Excellence Award from the Barcelona Medical Association. She is an honorary member of the Spanish Society of Dual Pathology and has received the EUFAS & European Addiction Research Award. During the Spanish presidency of the European Union, she participated as an expert in the working group on dual pathology and addictions, the conclusions of which were approved in Brussels on December 5, 2023.

Dr. Ramon Pujol

He holds a Doctorate in Medicine and is a Specialist in Medical-Surgical Dermatology and Venereology. He has practiced in the areas of Cutaneous Hemato-Oncology (cutaneous lymphoproliferative processes) and inflammatory skin pathology. He has published over 500 articles in international and national journals, and has contributed to the writing of over thirty books and book chapters in the field.

He has participated as a researcher in numerous R+D+I projects funded by competitive calls from public administrations or entities, including a project to develop a European undergraduate curriculum in Dermatology. He has served as president of the Catalan Society of Dermatology, a member of the National Commission for the Dermatology specialty, the Board of Directors of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, as well as the Board of Directors of the International Society for Cutaneous Lymphomas. He has received the Professional Excellence Award from the Official College of Physicians of Barcelona and the Honor Distinction for the best professional trajectory with International projection from the Spanish Academy of Dermatology and Venereology.
