Paediatric patients with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) showed variability in their responses to methylphenidate. According to estimates of clinical efficacy, more than 30% of patients diagnosed with ADHD did not respond adequately to the drug. At present, there are no clinical or neurobiological markers that would let patients be identified who are liable to have either a good or bad response to methylphenidate. The objective of the present study is to evaluate the somatic profile (joint laxity) and performance of motivation and compensation tasks in a group of patients with ADHD, as well as the underlying activity of the cerebral circuits of distress and motivation, in accordance with good or bad responses to methylphenidate.
