The main goal of the Neuroimaging of neurodegenerative disease and healthy aging Research Group is to understand the pathophysiological processes in the preclinical phases of Alzheimer's disease.
The group, affiliated with the Barcelonabeta Brain Research Centre (BBRC), the research center of the Pasqual Maragall Foundation, focuses on the study of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and positron emission tomography (PET) to reveal the brain features associated with healthy ageing and risk factors for Alzheimer's disease that may suggest new prevention strategies. To this end, neuroimaging data will be analysed along with cognition, genetics, biomarkers and other clinical, environmental and lifestyle factors to discern their effects on the brain at structural, functional and molecular levels. The group consists of a multidisciplinary team that are experts in the acquisition, processing and analysis of PET brain and MRI images.
